On 10 June 2016, Zafraan Ensemble presents »a musical exhibition space« at the Lorenzkirche in Nuremberg in which an installation by Chiharu Shiota together with new music by Stefan Goldmann and Samir Odeh-Tamimi can be experienced.

»alif« is a concert experiment which transposes the principles of fine art exhibitions and performance art onto the musical form of the concert. An installation by Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota generates a pulsating organism within which both musicians and the audience can roam freely. Starting from an idea of the project’s artistic director Jeremias Schwarzer, the composers Stefan Goldmann and Samir Odeh-Tamimi unfold a realm for acoustic experiences based on their their different musical languages and formed by the tension between continuum and éclat, between techno and Western avant-garde, between exhibition and concert, between attention being directed inwards and outwards.

The Zafraan Ensemble and the singer-performer Salome Kammer arrange a performance lasting several hours between these different states of perception. Stefan Goldmann is controlling the electronics, while concert designer Folkert Uhde is directing the visuals and live camera.
