As part of the IMPULS festival, the Zafraan Ensemble is collaborating with five up-and-coming composers and will be premiering five new works in concerts on October 27 and 28, 2017, at Bauhaus Dessau and Radialsystem V.

This workshop will bring these five young international voices together for the first time. Violetta Cruz, a native of Colombia living in Paris, received one of her votes for admission to the Paris Conservatoire from Annette Schlünz, who was a jury member at the time. Romeo Wecks studies composition in Weimar, and is participating as a Halberstadt Orchestral Workshop laureate. Elisabeth Paulus, the youngest participating composer, is enrolled at the Stuttgart Hochschule. Étienne Hahn began studying composition under Annette Schlünz at the Strasbourg Conservatoire in 2012, and will be starting a master’s degree at Hanns Eisler Hochschule in Berlin this September. Parisian composer Bastien David’s works won the course instructor over in 2016, when she served as a commission jury member for the French Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs.
