The Young Ears Prize is the largest competition for music education in German-speaking countries.
As an initiative of the Young Ears Network, it sees itself as a seismograph and source of inspiration for the development of professional musical and music education practices in tune with the pulse of society. He focuses on the interfaces between current events and musical life.
In its current 15th call for proposals, the Young Ears Prize is looking for digital formats for artistic music education. The public jury meeting and award ceremony took place on October 7, 2021 in the Nikolaisaal Potsdam.
In its live discussion, the jury chose the Berlin Zafraan Ensemble and LOUDsoft as the first prize winner for the interactive performance “SCHRUMPF/Like Tears in Rain”. The second prize was shared by the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden for the virtual music theater project “Things Fall Apart – Diggin’ Opera II” and the Ensemble Quillo (Uckermark) for the digital “Werkstatt Quillo”. The 15th Young Ears Prize, endowed with a total of 10,000 euros, honors digital projects for artistic music education. The audience award once again confirmed the artistic work of the Ensemble Quillo.
