Sven Daigger, born in Eberbach am Neckar in 1984, composes works for musical theater, orchestra, chamber, dance and vocal music that are performed at home and abroad. He studied composition with Peter Manfred Wolf, Adriana Hölszky and Wolfgang Rihm and completed his diploma with honors in 2012. Daigger received numerous commissions from, among others, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Hamburg State Opera and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. He lives and works in Berlin and teaches at the music colleges in Weimar and Rostock.
Sven Daigger’s music is an art of expression without stylistic nostalgia and truly captivates the audience. Unorthodox and contemporary in terms of musical language, it proves to be highly emotional, highly variable and of great tonal sensuality and diversity. Sven Daigger deals with us contemporaries in his music and therefore reaches his audience with ease: the variety of musical events and the colorfulness of the sound development captivate the listeners.
The musicians of the Zafraan Ensemble are proven specialists in contemporary music and are very familiar with the work of Sven Daigger: they have already presented the composer’s works in several concert programs.
