After the tour through southern Germany, Switzerland and Spain, the Zafraan Ensemble is back in Berlin on May 29, 2018 with music by Alexander Schubert, Carola Bauckholt, Stefan Keller, Rebecca Saunders, Josep Planells Schiaffino and a world premiere by Johannes Boris Borowski.
At the concert at the BKA in Berlin-Kreuzberg, a selection of the ensemble forms into the “jazz quartet”. The spectrum of the pieces performed ranges from comments on jazz phrases to an examination of what further potential the distribution of melody, harmony, bass line and rhythm in the instrumentation has. Together with the baritone Jonathan Boudevin from Phoenix16, a work by Johannes Boris Borowski will also be premiered, with whom the Zafraan Ensemble continues the fruitful collaboration of recent years.
