Emmanuelle Bernard, Violin/Viola

Emmanuelle Bernard (violin/viola), born in Die (France), studied violin at the Conservatoire National de Région Grenoble, at the Yehudi Menuhin School in England and at the Hochschule für Musik »Hanns Eisler« Berlin.

As a violinist and viola player, she deals with many different styles of music, from romantic repertoire and historical performance practice to contemporary music. Her particular interest is in chamber music. She plays regularly at the Podium Festival in Esslingen, Haugesund in Norway and Matadepera in Spain. Numerous concert appearances have also taken her to Asia, Latin America and other European countries, where she has performed as a soloist with the European Union Chamber Orchestra and as concertmaster of the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra. Since 2014 she has been a regular guest at the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin.

Emmanuelle Bernard works with many composers, including Sanchez Verdú, Tristan Murail, Cheryl Frances-Hoad, Yoav Passovski and Clara Gervais. She has been involved in several CD productions, like Arnold Schönberg’s Pierrot lunaire and a portrait CD by Sarah Nemtsov.
