Als eines der jüngeren Ensembles der Berliner Szene sieht es das Zafraan Ensemble seit zehn Jahren immer auch als seine Aufgabe an, die Geschichte der Neuen Musik in Berlin aktiv mitzugestalten. Mit dem letzten Konzert dieser Reihe macht sich das Zafraan Ensemble nun selbst ein Geburtstagsgeschenk und spielt – beginnend mit Gauze I von Mark Barden, der ersten Uraufführungen nach Ensemble-Gründung im Jahr 2009 – eine kleine Auswahl seiner Lieblingswerke.
In einer Reihe mit zehn Kammerkonzerten erzählt das Zafraan Ensemble die Geschichte Berlins von den 1910er Jahren bis heute als eine musikalische. Jeder der Konzertabende steht für eine Dekade, bei dem ein in diesem Jahrzehnt in Berlin uraufgeführtes Werk den programmatischen Auslöser bildet.
