Das Zafraan Ensemble ist wieder zum Ultraschall Festival Berlin eingeladen, diesmal mit aktuellen Stücken von Zeynep Gedizlioglu, Ricardo Eizirik, Elena Mendoza, Samir Odeh-Tamimi und einer Uraufführung von Laure Leander aka Martin Hiendl. Das Konzert findet am 19. Januar 2019 um 17 Uhr im Heimathafen Neukölln statt.
Die neue Musik lebt nicht zuletzt durch ihre Ensemblekultur – Formationen, deren Stammbesetzung von allen klassisch-romantischen Standardmustern abweicht. Und deren Mitglieder ebenso Ensemblespieler wie auch herausragende Solistinnen und Solisten sind. Drei Solowerke stehen in diesem Konzert zwei Ensemblestücken gegenüber. Neben Ricardo Eiziriks Obsessive Compulsive Music, hier erstmals in der Fassung für Saxophon, Violoncello und expandiertes Klavier zu hören, nutzt Laure Leander aka Martin Hiendl für das neue Werk Contretemps/Soliloquy (via Fred Moten) die besondere Besetzung Flöte, Saxophon, Harfe, Schlagwerk, Klavier, Violine und Violoncello und steuert zudem eigens die Live-Elektronik bei. Das neue Werk ist ein Kompositionsauftrag des Zafraan Ensemble.
Solo bedeutet in den solistisch besetzten Werken dagegen nicht nur das alleinige Spiel auf einem Instrument. Die Macht der Gewohnheit hat Elena Mendoza für einen sprechenden Violinisten geschrieben. Das gleichnamige Gedicht von Hans Magnus Enzensberger beschäftigt sich mit den Paradoxien, aber auch mit der Gefahr des Gewohnten.
