When shrinking! Concert on September 20th 2020 at 4 p.m. in the Clinkerlounge you can take the unique chance to get creative together with the Zafraan Ensemble musicians and operate the mixing console!
The operating instructions for the music machine are read out, all visitors know what to do… and off they go!
At SCHRUMPF! For Zafraan the space is open, there is no boundary between musicians and the listeners. In the middle of the room is the almighty mixing console. While the musicians play, the audience is allowed to operate the mixer, which they use to change the players’ scores. This means that even the youngest listeners can help create the piece and immediately hear the effect of their actions on the mixing desk.
The Zafraan Ensemble stands for music that reflects today’s life, today’s society, today’s reality in all its facets. Together with other art forms, Zafraan observes, explores and processes what surrounds us: the people, the events, the nature, the technologies, the normalities and the absurdities of today. The musicians challenge themselves and the audience, try things out and surprise. In collaboration with conductors like Titus Engel or Manuel Nawri, with composers like Samir Odeh-Tamimi and Johannes Borowski, they push the limits, provoke, risk and create something new. Zafraan unfolds the narrative power of music to make what needs to be told come alive.
