»Zafraan stands for music that reflects today’s life, today’s society, today’s reality in all its facets. Together with other art forms, Zafraan observes, researches and processes what surrounds us: the people, the events, nature, the technologies, the normalities and the absurdities of today. This self-characterization is reflected in the works in the program. When, for example, Claire-Mélanie Sinnhuber undertakes alternating combinations of instruments in Seven Exceptions, Simone Movio explores dimensions of enchantment in Incanto (“a mysterious power that everyone perceives and which no philosopher explains”). In De dentro afuera (‘From Within’), Elena Mendoza explores the tension between flamenco and new music and analyzes her own musical language in search of elements that could establish a relationship with flamenco music.
