Hiding Place – The Ornament is an imagined performance practice with elements of shadow play, narrative and instrumental music that takes us into the world of a kite fighter in northern India around 1903. On his journey for recognition, he must witness the destruction of previous cultural and social structures and, not least, question his art form.
Composer Uday Krishnakumar’s extreme deceleration, expansion and superimposition of simple stories and melodies puts us in a state of unique astonishment.
