Beijing International Composition Workshop

Today is the opening of the 2013 Beijing International Composition Workshop to which Zafraan was invited as this year's Ensemble in Residence.

The workshop gathers promising composers from all over the world and excellent faculty such as Prof. Zhou Long, Prof. Dieter Mack, Prof. Luca Francesconi, Prof. Chen Xiaoyong, Prof. Manuel Nawri, Prof. Xu Shuya, Prof. Jia Guoping and Prof. Guo Wenjing.

During the intensive 10-day programs, the fellow composers and faculty will meet in individual lessons, composition seminars, faculty lectures, conducting classes and rehearsals, as well as two culminating concerts, to present their works, exchange ideas, and explore creative notions and means.

In addition, as a special component, Chinese cultural and musical heritage will be presented in lectures and panel discussions, on the topics of Chinese traditional instruments, Chinese folk music, as well as Chinese contemporary musical tendency.
