Daniel Eichholz (drums), born in Wolfsburg, studied classical percussion at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater and at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin. He completed his studies with a concert exam with distinction.
In addition to his passion for classical and contemporary music, he has been active in the electronic music scene and in the pop/rock sector for years as a live and studio drummer and as a composer. He works with many contemporary composers, including Wolfgang Riehm, Helmut Lachenmann, Sarah Nemtsov and Johannes Schöllhorn. He also performs with well-known orchestras and ensembles such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra, the Ensemble Ruhe, the Ensemble Ascolta and the Ensemble Musikfabrik. He performs internationally with the drum ensemble of the Chinese percussionist and conductor Li Biao and the drummers of the Berlin Philharmonic.
As a live and studio drummer, Daniel Eichholz is active in the rock and pop scene, where he played with Tocotronic, Phoenix, 2raumwohnung and The Baseball, among others. He is a member of the Berlin techno live act Schulz und Söhne – Artist in Residence at the Fusion Festival. With his prog rock band Squintaloo he released the internationally acclaimed MIG Music debut album Über Bord in 2017.
Daniel Eichholz has been teaching drums at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin since 2012.
