Liam Mallett (flute), born in Whangarei (New Zealand), studied flute at the Freiburg im Breisgau University of Music, at the Basel Music Academy and at the Berlin University of the Arts. His main interest is orchestral music, late romanticism and contemporary music.
Liam Mallett has worked as a freelance musician since his studies. As a flautist, he has appeared as a guest with international orchestras such as the Göteborg Symphony Orchestra, the Göteborg Opera Orchestra, the Kammerakademie Potsdam, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, the Komische Oper Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Camerata Bern and the Basel Symphony Orchestra. He also worked with important composers and conductors such as Johannes Schöllhorn, Beat Furrer, Jörg Widmann, Sir Simon Rattle, Christoph Eschenbach, Neeme Järvi and Gustavo Dudamel.
As a chamber musician, soloist and lecturer, he has given concerts in America, Mexico, Ukraine and many European countries. He was a member of the Academy of the Comic Opera.
