As part of the IMPULS festival, the Zafraan Ensemble is working with five international young composers and will give two concerts with five premieres on October 27th and 28th, 2017 at the Bauhaus Dessau and Radialsystem V.
Five composers of the young generation meet in this workshop for the very first time. The arc is stretched from Weimar via Stuttgart, Strasbourg, Paris to Colombia. Violetta Cruz, who lives in Paris, comes from there and received a vote for admission to the Paris Conservatoire from Annette Schlünz, a jury member at the time. Elisabeth Paulus is the youngest composer in the group to be enrolled at the Stuttgart University. Romeo Wecks, who is taking part in the Halberstadt Orchestra Workshop as a prize winner, is studying composition in Weimar. Étienne Haan began studying composition with Annette Schlünz at the Strasbourg Conservatoire in 2012 and will begin a master’s degree at the Hanns Eisler University in Berlin in September. Bastien David’s work convinced the course leader as a jury member for the 2016 commission from the French Ministry of Culture.
