Hiding Place – The Ornament is an imagined performance practice with elements of shadow puppetry, narration and instrumental music that brings us to North India in 1903 – a world of kite fighting practitioners. In his journey for patronage and acclaim, a master kite flyer finds his art form in question as he is forced to witness the dissolving of previous social and cultural structures. The composer Uday Krishnakumar puts the audience in a state of unique amazement with the extreme slowing down, expansion and superimposition of simple stories and melodies.
