Am 14. Juli 2013 geben das Zafraan Ensemble und Manuel Nawri mit einem Konzert im Central Conservatory of Music Beijing ihr China-Debüt.
Das Konzert mit Werken von Johannes Schöllhorn, Tristan Murail und Gérard Grisey eröffnet gleichzeitig den Beijing International Composition Workshop 2013, zu dem Zafraan dieses Jahr als Ensemble in Residence eingeladen wurde.
Im Rahmen des Workshops bekommen Nachwuchskomponisten aus aller Welt die Möglichkeit, mit renommierten Komponisten und Dozenten wie u.a. Prof. Zhou Long, Prof. Dieter Mack, Prof. Luca Francesconi, Prof. Chen Xiaoyong, Prof. Manuel Nawri, Prof. Xu Shuya, Prof. Jia Guoping und Prof. Guo Wenjing zusammenzuarbeiten.
